About

Usha Mishra

Hello!

I’m Usha Mishra, a full-time artist and surface designer with a passion for adding colorful, decorative touches in my world. Nothing makes me happier than changing up a room with bright and cheery accents or hosting a party with festive serving ware and homemade food. I find inspiration all around me, and lately have been exploring incorporating more of my Indian heritage and my California upbringing into my work.

I’ve been sewing since I was 7 years old, and spent a few years sewing costumes professionally for theater companies in the western United States. A long 20+ year detour in marketing strategy working with clients across several industries prepped me for being nimble as an artist, where every day is something different. The San Francisco Bay Area has been my home for most of my life. I received my BA in Studio Art and Hispanic Studies from Scripps College in Claremont, California.

While I still love creating things with my hands - crochet, sewn items, hand embroidery, and anything tactile - I am most happy when making decorative artwork, experimenting with color, pattern, and texture, and incorporating my love of stitching into my artwork. Most recently I’ve been working on collections of repeat patterns suitable for home decor, tabletop, party paper, gifts, and more. I love to collaborate with brands that brighten our world - please reach out to discuss your vision to see what we can create!
